Wilus today received a Certificate of Designation as an Advanced Technology Center (ATC+, 우수기업연구소) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).
This accolade recognizes Wilus for excellence in R&D and innovation. The ATC+ program is a state-funded initiative aimed at developing Korean organizations that drive corporate growth and industrial innovation.
Wilus was recognized for its important contributions to SEP development at the ‘SEP Strategy Conference’ held by the Korean IP Office (KIPO) on June 22, 2023. The conference was convened to share best practices from KIPO’s ‘SEP Development Support Project’, in which Wilus was an active participant.
During the event, Wilus was nominated as the most outstanding participant in the project. In recognition of its contributions to strengthening national competitiveness in the areas of standard essential patents, Wilus was presented with a ministerial commendation (표준특허 창출지원 우수기관 장관상) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).
Wilus Wi-Fi standards experts Dr. Sanghyun Kim and Dr. Hwanwoong Hwang attended the Next-Generation WLAN and Wireless-Specialized Network Technology Workshop for 5G/6G 2023 held by KICS on June 2, 2023, where they presented on the current status of IEEE 802.11bn UHR (Wi-Fi 8) and IEEE 802.11bf WLAN Sensing standardization. Wilus CEO Dr. Jin Sam Kwak received the Minister's prize from Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) on December 31, 2022.
The award recognizes the oustanding results achieved by Dr. Kwak and the Wilus team on several R&D projects supported by MSIT. Three major R&D projects run by Dr. Kwak - concerning Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, and LAA development - were designated as 'excellent R&D projects'.
Based on those achievements in supporting the spread of standardized technologies, Dr. Kwak received the 'Research Achievement Award (연구성과유공자 장관표창)' from MSIT.
